Debt Collection Calls Related to a Not So Surprising Person

Four months ago my mother started getting daily calls from two Texas phone numbers. I searched Google and discovered the numbers belong to the collection agency Alltran. They called about twice a day everyday without leaving a message which isn’t unusual. Originally I figured the calls were connected to her next door neighbor who in foreclosure. I based that in part because she had received a call from the Bank of New York Mellon and public record shows that they just so happened to be the neighbors mortgage company. On June 6th I decided to call Alltran to see if I could find out what was going on. I spoke to a woman who was actually courteous and trust me this is from from normal. I gave her the phone they were calling and she was able to find a record on the calls. Somewhat to my surprise they were not calling about the neighbor but rather they were looking for my brother. That made all the sense in the world because this is a man who couldn’t manage his money in a game of Monopoly Junior. In fact this not the first time my mother has ended up with calls from debt collectors looking for him. The employee said she would remove the number from their record and considering past history I wasn’t about to get my hopes up. But it’s been a month now and they haven’t called back. Interestingly enough I learned that his cell phone was out of service and I can’t help wondering if the timing of the calls were related to that. Now I wonder if any other debt collection agencies will be calling about another debt he owes. Hopefully not and if they do I can only hope it can be resolved.
