In the last couple of weeks calls have been received with the alleged name of Curtis Sliwa. He is the founder of the Guardian Angels. He is is also a candidate for NYC mayor. Thankfully all of the calls have automatically been blocked.
If in fact the calls are not spoofed than I am assuming the calls are related to his race for mayor. While politically related calls are an exception under National Do Not Call Registry I still question if a campaign should be allowed to call outside of NYC.
Why do I feel this way? Because I do not live in NYC. Not only that but I don’t even have a NYC number. So I don’t see why it’s necessary to areas outside the borders of the city.
If this doesn’t violate the NDNCR than it should unless you’ve made a donation to the campaign of a given candidate. I simply do not see why a candidate should be able to calls somebody who is not eligible to vote in the area they are running in.
I guess the one upside to these bs calls is the simple fact that have been blocked by the call blocking service Nomorobo. Otherwise I might have answered just to be sure it is connected to his campaign.
