So last week I received yet another call from a number that was automatically blocked. This was followed by a voicemail. I had figured it was yet another one of those car warranty scams which I have discussed here before. The only strange thing here was that this would have been two in telemaggoter calls in less than a week which is unusual.
Yesterday I received yet another car warranty voicemail from the same old telemaggoter operation. After listening to the message I realized that I never did listen to the second message that I thought was from the car warranty operation. When I looked at the number associated with the message I couldn’t help noticing that my iPhone was unable to transcribe it. For some reason this peaked my curiosity and as a result I listened to it. As it turns out the message was in Chinese. Oddly enough the voice sounded oddly familiar. My assumption was that it was one of these Chinese consulate scams. This seemed a little strange since it would be the first one in two or more years. Out of humor I shared it with my girlfriend and my childhood best friend saying that the consulate was after me again.
Last night I decided to listen to it again and this time I heard something that I heard, “Welcome to T-Mobile”. These were the only English within the entire message and in fact it was said twice. This was the only part of the message I could understand.
My best guess is that the message is saying there is a problem with my account. That’s pretty damned funny since I don’t have T-Mobile. But these telemaggoters will stop at nothing to con people. Unfortunately for this operation I won’t be reaching out to them and I certainly hope that doesn’t break their little hearts. After all the last thing I want is for them to cry their eyes out causing flood in the outhouse they are working in.
