It’s a new year and with that I’ve decided to step back from Facebook. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a New Years resolution per say. Instead it’s just something I need to do for myself. I guess that’s what it’s always been.
Quite frankly I’ve grown bored with Facebook. Since I’ve been back I have rarely replied to any posts. I wish I could say the same was true in the past. Far too many times I allowed myself to get drawn in by the politics and other nonsense that goes on.
Speaking of which this time around I am happy to say that politics has nothing to do with my decision. In fact I’ve been able to ignore the the vast majority of it. Yeah I’ll glance at it for a bit but that’s as far as it goes. I am also happy to say that it no longer gets under my skin. This has never been the case before.
To be honest, I’d rather not deactivate my page this time around. But Facebook has kind of forced my hand in this case. Why? Because I am no longer able to link this blog account to personal Facebook page in order to inform my friends and family when I’ve made a blog post. Apparently one or more people over there thought it would be a great idea only make this feature available to business accounts. The end result is that people like me get punished for running a simple blog.
It seems to be that this is about the almighty dollar. I’m not about to believe it’s done to protect peoples information which is what I’d swear I read somewhere. If that was the case than they wouldn’t be selling our information.
Well that about wraps things up for now. The last time I was gone for several months. Maybe if I’m lucky I can stay away for a year. But I’m not getting my hopes up on that one.
